How to charge PS4 Controller with phone charger 1

PlayStation has revolutionized the gaming market with its incredibly powerful consoles that provide a luxurious gaming experience. Every time they release one of their series consoles, it creates hype all around, with every gamer trying their best to get their hands on them. One such legendary console is the PS4. It has got a bit old but it still has got the same demand in the market. The PS4’s controller DualShock 4 is one of the best gaming controllers that you can get on the market, providing great controls over your gameplay. So if you have one, you might find that it runs out of charge sometimes which interrupts your gaming sessions. Today we will show you how you can easily charge your controller using the correct phone charger so that you don’t run out of your controller battery while gaming.

Finding the correct phone charger

Charging your PS4 Controller with a phone charger is an easy process. But the most important thing is to find the correct phone charger. You need to make sure that the voltage and the ampere of the charger are correct. Now, if you take a look at the back of your PS4 controller, you will find a sticker there with various technical details about the controller. There you will find the power draw for the controller and the correct voltage that it needs while charging. Right under the model number, you should find these written.

Check the values on your phone charger carefully

Generally, the values written should be 5V (Voltage) and 800mA(Ampere). Now find a charger that has 5V written on it and the ampere can be higher than 800mA. If you find a charger that has less than 800mA written on it, then you won’t be able to plug in your controller and play at the same time. This is because your controller will be drawing power from the internal battery and there won’t be enough power coming out of your charger. If you want to charge your controller and play alongside it, then you should find a charger with at least 1A or above. Some chargers, especially for the iPad, come with 18A, which is far exceeding then what is needed for your controller. It will work, but don’t use this charger to charge your controller overnight, for safety reasons. It will be fine for a 2 to 3-hour charge.

But the most important thing is to make sure that the voltage of your charger is 5V exactly and nothing more than that. Nowadays, phone companies have been launching phones with fast chargers that can charge your phone in minutes. But you need to make sure that you don’t use those chargers for charging your controller anyway. These chargers generally have a voltage of around 9 or 10, and if you use these to charge your controller then it will damage its battery. So be aware of them and make sure you always check the values written on the back of every charger before using them.

Charging your controller with the phone charger

Now for charging, you have to plug one side of your USB cable into your charger and the other side onto your controller. Fit the charger into your wall socket and your controller will begin charging. At the back of your PS4 controller, you will find a light bar. It will start flashing, which will indicate that it is charging. When it completes charging, the light will turn off.
