How to change gender in Pokemon Go (2024)

It’s a cold-hard fact that Pokemon Go is one of the most influential video games of the last two decades. Following its release in 2016, the game became a cultural phenomenon, akin to the likes of Fortnite and Minecraft. And while the hype and popularity around it have died down a lot, it’s still the biggest earner for Niantic. Devs continue to add new content into the game, some receiving positive reception from the community while others haven’t been received positively. so much. Niantic is also currently redoing a lot of things with the game and the latest update is part of that. To be more specific, this latest content update is focused on player avatar personalization and customization. As a result of this, players now want to know how to change their gender in the game.

A lot of Niantic’s decisions as of late have been hit or miss, and this update is certainly the latter. This update adds new ways to personalize your avatars while offering a ton of new options and customization. And while that certainly sounds great, its implementation isn’t. There are a ton of complaints regarding new avatars not looking good, stretched out, and such. All in all, the player consensus around this new update, as we said before, is quite negative. This new update has also changed gender options and as such, this guide here will help you know how you can change trainer gender in it.

How to change gender in Pokemon Go?

Unfortunately, Niantic has fully removed the gender change option for trainers in Pokemon Go. So, if you were looking to do that, then better abandon all those thoughts. However, you can still change your avatar’s appearance if you want to do that. As we stated before, the newly revamped Avatar system instead has different customizable options that you can select and customize as per your desires. So, from now on, if you are looking to change your avatar’s look or style, you will need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • First launch the game on your phone and then tap on your Avatar Profile Picture. It will be located right at the bottom-left part of the screen.
  • Next, select Style. On the next screen, you will see a bunch of options to choose from. Ignore all except the one named Appearance. Click on it.
  • Inside the Appearance screen, you will find four main options: Hair, Face, Eyes, and Body. Switch to the Body section.
  • Now, click on Body, and under it, you will find ten different body types to choose from. Select whichever one you like. If you don’t, you can click on the Custom button next to the last body type and modify your Weight, Muscle, Shoulders, Chest, and Hips.
  • If you want, you can also change other parts of your avatar, by switching to the rest of the three main options.

If the developers do add in the trainer gender change option, then we will be sure to let our readers know all about that. For now, that’s all we have on this matter. Additionally, if you want, you can also take a quick look here to find out how you can get a Vespiquen in Pokemon Go. Lastly, keep following DigiStatement for more such content.
