In this article, we will take a look at the possible release window for the latest addition to IO Interactive’s Hitman series, presumably titled Hitman 4. There has not been too many new stories breaking on the Hitman front, but we do know enough from past experiences and the little info coming out from IO interactive that Hitman 3 was most definitely not the end of the amazing series. Let’s take a look at everything we know, shall we?
Hitman 3 marked the end of the World of Assassination saga, that was started back in 2016, when the franchise made its return. I think we can all agree that it has been a breathtaking journey spanning half a decade and covering half of the entire planet, as we controlled Agent 47 in an attempt to come up with the cleanest and most fun methods to take out a target in extremely varied sandbox environments. Seeing as a massive story line trilogy came to an end with Hitman 3, there is every chance that there will be more than the usual 2 year gap between mainline installments to the series. The last time a trilogy saga came to an end, the franchise only saw one game in the next decade. We can only hope that this time around, IO Interactive chooses to cash in on the availability of superior hardware on the next-generation console and get right at developing the plot and execution for Agent 47’s next assignment. The studio also has the task of developing a James Bond game on its plate. Talking about this 007 game to Danish Publication DR, IO studio head Hakan Abrak said that the studio was doubling the number of its employees from the current 200 to 400. This could either be due to the fact that they are extremely ambitious with the JB trilogy, or that they are looking to develop two games side by side. If the latter is the case, we could be looking at a late 2023 release for Hitman 4. If it isn’t, who knows how long 47’s hiatus could be.
