Hi-fi Rush is a new action game that has colorful visuals as well as gorgeous graphics. Likewise, you may be a player who is looking to play the game on an ultrawide monitor. A game like this that is visually stunning can be even more immersive when played on an ultrawide display. With the growing popularity of ultrawide monitors as a part of a gaming setup, many new games are out with native support for the format. Thus, some players may be wondering if the same is supported by this new title. So, this article is therefore regarding the availability of Ultrawide Support in Hi-Fi Rush.
Hi-Fi Rush Ultrawide Support: Is it available?
The short answer is Yes. There is ultrawide support available in the game. Likewise, you can play the game on an ultrawide monitor without any irregular black bars. However, this ultrawide support seems to only function properly for the gameplay. This is because the cutscenes in the game are not displayed in ultrawide format. This can be quite distracting for players to see these sections of the game appear in the usual 16:9 ratio with black bars.
What is the issue with ultrawide support for cutscenes?
The main issue with ultrawide support in the game is that black bars appear during cutscenes. Likewise, the main gameplay in Hi-Fi Rush does not have any black bars as it adapts natively to an ultrawide monitor. Therefore, all the cutscenes that use the game’s engine do not adapt to the ultrawide format. This results in the distracting black bars that appear around the in-game cutscenes.
How can you fix the cutscenes not appearing in the ultrawide format?
In order to fix the in-game cutscenes not appearing in the ultrawide format, you can edit the game’s executable file’s hex values. Likewise, you have to go to the following folder path: Hi-Fi Rush (Game installation folder) > Hibiki > binaries > Win64 and locate the Hi-Fi-RUSH.exe file. You have to perform a hex edit of this file and search for line- 39 8E E3 3F. Finally, you have to change this value with the ratio value for your ultrawide monitor. You can find some common hex values here. This workaround was shared by BADMANXL on the game’s Steam forum, so make sure to give it a try.
