Blizzard Entertainment’s Heroes of the Storm just recently got a new patch in November 2023, more than a year after the studio stopped actively developing the title. This new patch has added a newfound interest in the game and has seen both new and old players join in on the fun. Unfortunately, it seems like many players are facing the version mismatch error, which in turn is making it hard to enjoy the game.
The issue here speaks for itself. For whatever reason, players are getting a version mismatch error, which could be due to a myriad of things, ranging from the game not being updated to server issues. So, is there a fix for this issue? Continue reading to find out.
Heroes of the Storm Version Mismatch Error: How to fix it?
Players will have to make do with the following workarounds since there’s no official fix available at the moment. Try these and check if any of them are of help.
Update –
Well, the very first and obvious thing to do here is to simply update the game. If you haven’t updated the game in a while, following this method will most likely solve this problem. However, if it doesn’t, you can try other workarounds.
Change servers –
The recent version mismatch error occurred mainly on the Europe and Asia servers, while at the same time, those on the America server didn’t have to encounter such an issue. As such, from now on, whenever you encounter a version mismatch error, try changing server regions in-game and see if that helps.
Repair files –
A very common workaround for such issues is to simply repair game files. Whenever a game’s files become corrupted or are missing, you will encounter many such errors and bugs. As such, the only way to deal with this is to repair the game files. To do so on the Battle.net launcher, follow the given steps:
- Open the Battle.net launcher and click on All Games.
- Next, select My Games and then Heroes of the Storm.
- Click on the gear icon and choose Scan and Repair > Begin Scan.
- After the scanning is done, restart the PC and then launch the game.
Block certain IP addresses –
This workaround is somewhat old, but it did work for many, so we recommend you give it a try. What you will be doing is creating a Windows Firewall Rule and then blocking certain IP addresses. For those who don’t know how to do all these, just follow the instructions below:
- Click on Start, type in Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security, and hit Enter.
- Next, select Inbound Rules and click on Actions > New Rule.
- In the new window, select Custom under Rule Type, and then click Next. As for Program, choose All Programs and click Next. After that, select Any for Protocol Type, and once again click on Next. Then you will see Scope. Under the Which remote IP addresses does this apply to? option, select These IP addresses, and click on Add.
- Now, enter the following IP addresses to block them:
- 52.185.211.133
- 172.217.1.206
- 172.253.63.97
- Once that’s done, click on OK > Next.
- Now, choose Block the connection for Action and click on Next. As for Profile, leave everything unchecked and click on Next. When it comes to the Name option, you can title it whatever you see fit.
- Click on Finish to end the process.
Reinstall –
If you are still facing this error somehow, we recommend that you reinstall the game. Try this, and if even this one doesn’t work, the only other way is to wait a while and try again.
