Helldivers 2 finally saw its release on February 8, 2024, for consoles and Windows. And so far, the reviews have been quite mixed. While the game is quite fun from a gameplay perspective, its technical issues are what’s currently holding it back. This also includes the “PC shutting down after clicking Start Mission” issue that players have been complaining about.
Well, as the name suggests, Helldivers 2 just keeps crashing whenever a player clicks on the Start Mission button. Now, it’s not clear what’s causing this, as anything ranging from outdated drivers to the game’s settings can be the culprit here. So, are there any fixes for this? Well, continue reading to find out!
Helldivers 2 PC shutting down after clicking Start Mission issue: Is there any fix yet
Currently, there’s no official fix for this issue, and as such, we suggest you follow the workarounds mentioned below. Try these and see which ones are of help to you.
Switch to another display mode –
A fix for this particular issue happens to be switching to a different display mode. So, what we recommend you do is switch from Fullscreen to Borderless Window or Window under Display Options, and the issue will most likely be solved. However, if it continues to persist, try another method.
Set a frame limit for the game –
Running the game with an FPS cap can prove quite helpful in dealing with this issue. Now, since Helldivers 2 doesn’t have an in-game frame limiter, you will have to do it through the Nvidia Control Panel for Nvidia and AMD Radeon Settings for AMD.
Update drivers –
Players should make sure that they have the latest drivers installed. So, if you haven’t updated the graphics in a while, go ahead and get the latest ones. However, if you already have the latest ones, switch to a different workaround.
Run the game with admin access –
Players can also try running the game with admin access to see if it helps. Basically, right-click on the game’s exe and select Properties. Switch to the Compatibility tab, checkmark Run this program as an administrator and then click Apply and OK. Next, launch the game and find out if the issue continues.
Disable Steam Input –
Disabling Steam Input can also help with this. For this, you will need to right-click on Helldivers 2 from your Steam Library and select Properties. Next, switch to the Controller tab, and on the right side of Controller options, choose Disable Steam Input from the dropdown menu.
Lower graphics settings –
You can also try lowering the in-game graphics settings and that could be of big help with this. Start by lowering your resolution and turning off V-Sync under Display Options. Next, switch to Graphics, and then set Graphics Preset to either Low or Medium. Turn off Motion Blur and then save your settings.
Well, that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. Additionally, why not take a look here, if you want to know about Helldivers 2’s crossplay details? And for more such guides, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: Helldivers 2 Asus Rog Ally & Lenovo Legion Go Support: Is it available?
