Helldivers 2, the sequel to 2015’s Helldivers, is just a few months away from its official release. Scheduled for a February 8, 2024, release on both Windows and PS5, the game generated a good amount of hype back when it was officially announced on May 24, 2023, during the PlayStation Showcase. From what the trailers and interviews have featured so far, Helldivers 2 is looking to be a fun third-person squad-based shooter. And Earth Defense Force fans will certainly love this one. For the uninitiated, crossplay refers to the ability or feature that enables players from different platforms to play with each other. It’s a highly requested feature in modern games, particularly multi-platform, multiplayer-focused ones. But not every multi-platform game has crossplay due to one or more reasons. Helldivers 2 Crossplay Details between PC & PS5
As of writing this article, Arrowhead Games has yet to officially confirm crossplay between PC and PS5 for Helldivers 2. As we said before, the game is still a few good months away, and as such, information on Helldivers 2 will start to come little by little as the release date approaches.
Now, if you ask us, we are of the general belief that crossplay is going to be included in Helldivers 2. Lately, PlayStation has been focusing on PC very much, and Helldivers 2 not having a crossplay will be stupid when the game is released on both PC and PS5. Furthermore, as a third-person squad shooter, adding in crossplay support is the best thing to do for a game like this.
It’s not only the crossplay details that we are unaware of. Arrowhead is yet to announce things like PC requirements, cross-progression support, and such for the game. But we are sure that as the release date approaches, the developers will share more details on the same.
Helldivers itself had crossplay support, but it wasn’t a full one. The crossplay compatibility of the first game was only between PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. The PC version was unsupported for crossplay. Can we expect the same thing with Helldivers 2? We certainly don’t think so. The series at that time was somewhat unknown, and the upcoming sequel has a good fan following right now. That PlayStation Showcase certainly helped in that regard. For now, all you can do is take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to details on Helldivers 2.
