Hardik Pandya, one of the most flamboyant players of the Indian cricket team lineup is currently not bowling complete 10 overs in the ongoing series. You must be wondering what is the reason for that, well, this thing is related to his back injury.
Hardik Pandya suffered a slipped disc back in 2019. He also had surgery for the same in London. It took him quite some time to get back in action. And now, we are seeing him in a good form in the series against Australia.
In the first match, he scored 90 of 76 balls, which includes four sixes & seven fours. And in the second match, he couldn’t score much, but he was hitting the ball well. But why he is not bowling the complete ten overs ?
To understand this, we had to dig a bit deep in his back injury. Well, reports from various publications suggest that he has slipped disc & got operated for the same. Speaking of the disc, it is a jelly material which sits in between two vertebrae of our spine. When a weakened disc is subjected to repetitive high pressure, there is a chance of its herniation which can cause back pain, tingling in legs & foot.
So, if the surgery is successful, why Hardik is still not bowling? Well, we can’t say of certain as for that one needs to study his reports clinically. But when a spinal disc is weakened, there is a chance of its re-herniation again. Also, bowling ten overs might put extra stress on his weakened disc.
It will be difficult for him to return to bowling or to bowl ten overs in a long run. But we can only hope & wish, that Hardik gets his full strength back & return to bowling in full swing.
