GTA 5 has been around forever but it only seems to be getting better with time. During the arena wars update, the devs added a shunt-boosting mechanic to the game. This mechanic has been causing some problems for players. So, today we’re gonna be showing you how to use a shunt boost in GTA 5 on all the different platforms. GTA 5 Online (PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC): How to use shunt boost

If you want to turn your vehicle into a wrecking ball, then the shunt boost is the feature for you. Before you use the shunt boost, you’ll have to buy it. Just take your car to the workshop and buy “shunt boost” under the boost section. Be aware, that buying this upgrade does not come cheap.

Once you’ve upgraded your vehicle with a shunt boost, your life is set to change forever, driving through Los Santos will never be the same again. After getting the shunt boost, look at the bottom left of your screen below your minimap. You should be able to see a yellow bar along with your armor and health bar. This yellow bar tells you how much boost you have left, you can’t shunt boost when it is empty. Let’s look at the button inputs.

For PS4 and PS5

For a PS4 and PS5, hold down the X button and then press the L1 or R1 button to indicate the direction that you want to shunt boost in. Pressing L1 will take you to the left, and pressing R1 will take you to the right.

Shunt Boosting on an Xbox

If you wish to perform a shunt boost on an Xbox, then all you have to do is press the A button and then use the LB or the RB buttons to indicate the direction in which you want to shunt boost.

PC Shunt Boost buttons

If you’re a PC player, then you’re better off coming up with custom key binds for custom boosting. By default, it can be performed by pressing X and then tapping either the left or the right movements keys to indicate your direction.
