On April 30, 2024, developer Madfinger Games released their debut PC title, Gray Zone Warfare, as an early access game on Steam. So far, the reception to it hasn’t been that great. This is mostly due to the myriad of issues that currently plague the game. Among these annoying issues is also the no sound issue that this guide here will be focusing on.
Well, as the name suggests, for whatever reason, players aren’t able to enjoy the game due to there being no sound. And for a mil-sim like this one, that is something you can’t just ignore. Trying to play tactical fps without sound is less than ideal and as such, players have been looking to fix it ASAP. So, let’s go ahead and find out all the available workarounds for this no-sound issue in-game.
Gray Zone Warfare no sound issue: How to fix it
Since there’s no official fix for this at the moment, players will have to make do with the following. Try these workarounds and see which ones are of help to you.
Restart –
Before trying out other workarounds, we highly recommend that you try the restart method. Who knows, it might be all you need to fix this issue. Simply restart the game and if that doesn’t help, restart your PC too. And in case, this doesn’t work out, you can switch to another workaround.
Check your default audio device –
Make sure that your default audio device is correct. For that, open Windows Settings and navigate to System > Sound. Scroll down and click on More Sound Settings. When the Sound window opens, switch to Playback and check your default audio device. If it isn’t the one currently in use, right-click on the one that is and select Set as Default Device. End the process by clicking on Apply and OK.
Disable all audio enhancements –
You can also try disabling audio enhancements and see if that works. To do this, right-click on your default audio device from the Sound window and select Properties. Switch to the Advanced tab and uncheck the Enable Audio Enhancements option. Click on Apply and OK to close the window.
Ensure that your speaker is allowed to use audio –
This issue can also be the result of your speaker not being allowed to use audio. To fix that, open Windows Settings > System > Sound. Under Output, you will find the Speakers option. Click on it and this will take you to the Properties screen. Next, scroll down to the General section. If the Audio is set to Allow, make sure to click on it, and it will change to Don’t Allow.
Change audio format –
While you are in the Properties screen, you can also change the audio format of your device and check if that helps. Simply, scroll down to Output settings. Under the Default Format option, you will be able to select audio format from the drop-down menu. Change it and find out if you get sound in the game. Also, make sure that the Volume option below isn’t set all the way to 0.
Well, that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. You can also take a quick look here if you want to know about all the current servers available in the game.
