Coffee Stain Studios returned with their usual shenanigans with the release of Goat Simulator 3. Available for Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, the game saw its official launch on November 17, 2022, and was met with a positive reception from both critics and long-time fans of the series. What’s more, the game also just recently became available on mobile devices on December 5, 2023. As a result, this, of course, has resulted in many players wandering about the game’s Steam Deck support.
The Steam Deck has now established itself as one of the go-to devices for handheld PC gaming. Although it’s not as powerful as the ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, it more than makes up for it by giving its users an incredible battery life coupled with amazing support from Valve. It’s no wonder that so many users want their favorite games on the Deck. So, what’s Goat Simulator 3’s status on Steam Deck support? Continue reading to find out!
Goat Simulator 3 Steam Deck Support: Is it available
Well, as of now, Goat Simulator 3 hasn’t officially been Deck Verified. Furthermore, the game is yet to make its Steam debut, so it was only evident that it wouldn’t be getting the Verified status from the start. Goat Simulator 3 was under Epic Store exclusivity for a while, and it was only recently announced that the game will be heading over to Steam sometime in Q1 2024.
Running Goat Simulator 3 on the Steam Deck
While the game might not be verified on the Deck, it still runs flawlessly on the handheld device. In fact, you can play the game right now on your Deck if you want to. You just have to follow the steps below for that.
- Switch the Steam Deck to Desktop Mode and open the Discover store.
- Type in Heroic Games Launcher and install it.
- Next, log in to your Epic Games account on the Heroic Games Launcher, and then install Goat Simulator 3.
- After that, open Steam and click on Games > Add a non-steam game.
- Click on the Heroic Games Launcher and select Add to Steam.
- Now switch back to Gaming Mode.
- Launch the Heroic Games Launcher and click on Goat Simulator 3. Go ahead and enjoy some new chaotic fun in GS3.
Note: You can also add the game directly to Steam by heading to the Games page on Heroic. The launcher also gives you the option to automatically add games to Steam.
For now, this is what you need to do in order to play the game on the Steam Deck. Player reports suggest that the game runs perfectly fine on the Deck and at a constant 40FPS. If there are performance issues, tweak the in-game settings and make sure that Proton Experimental or the latest Proton GE is used to run the game.
