FTC Fortnite Refund: When Will You Get Your Money?
In case you don’t know, Epic Games has agreed to pay $245 million to the FTC. This big payment settles claims that Epic used tricky ways to charge players, leading to unwanted in-game purchases. This includes times when players bought things by mistake or when kids bought items without their parents knowing. The refunds aim to help these affected players.
Eligibility for the FTC Fortnite Refund
Keep in mind that not every Fortnite player qualifies for the FTC refund. If you are thinking just playing the game and making a few in-game purchases would make you eligible for refunds, then you are wrong. The FTC laid out some specific criteria:
- You were charged for unwanted in-game items between January 2017 and September 2022.
- Your child made purchases without your knowledge (January 2017–November 2018).
- You were locked out of your account after disputing unauthorized charges.
Only U.S. players are eligible, and minors must have their claims submitted by a parent or guardian.
Can You Still File a Claim?
If you think you should get a refund but haven’t filed a claim yet, you still have a chance! What are you waiting for? The FTC has reopened the claims process, but the final deadline to submit your claim is July 9, 2025. You can file your claim online on the official FTC website. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian must fill out the form for you. Go to the official FTC Fortnite refunds page or call the refund team at 1-833-915-0880 to file your claim by the July 9, 2025, deadline if you think you’re eligible!
When Will Your Money Arrive?
After filing a claim, you won’t get the refund immediately. Payments are already rolling out in phases. Here’s how it’s happening:
- First Payments: According to the FTC Press Release, the FTC sent out 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million in December 2024.
- Latest Payments: A larger sum, over $126 million, just went out on June 25 and June 26, 2025. These payments were for people who filed a valid claim by the February 14, 2025, deadline.
- Next Payments in 2026: If you filed your claim after February 14, 2025, or plan to file one soon, don’t worry! The FTC plans to send more payments in 2026. This will happen after they check and approve the newer claims.
Refunds usually come as checks or through PayPal. If you get a check, cash it within 90 days. For PayPal payments, you usually have 30 days to claim your money.
