Frostpunk from 11-Bit Studios is a survival game from 2018. The game was the first of its kind as a society survival title and had become quite popular back in the day. With the Steam Summer Sale going live and the price of Frostpunk dropping by 90%, the game has started attracting new players again. For these new players, navigating through the game’s difficulty settings can be a little tricky, as the game doesn’t offer a straightforward way to do it. So, how do you change the difficulty in Frostpunk? Let’s find out.
Frostpunk: How to Change Difficulty?
If you enjoy playing games that are tough to crack, Frostpunk might make you rethink your stance. This is a game that’s popular for how hard its difficulty settings are. Many have shared that even the easy difficulty mode in the game is too hard to complete. This begs the question, especially for players who are new to this title, how do you change the difficulty settings?
So, the game works in a little different way. Initially, when you begin a game in the “A New Home” mode, the game will be set at medium difficulty. You won’t be able to change it when you start the game. Initially, this mode will work as a tutorial for you to get acquainted with the in-game mechanics. You have to complete this scenario to change the difficulty settings. If you don’t want that, however, then you can try one little workaround. You can quit and restart the scenario, which will allow you to change the difficulty settings from there.
If you want to change the difficulty, instead of starting the “A New Home” mode, you have to go to the “Select Scenario” option. Here, you’ll be able to adjust the game’s difficulty. You get four options to choose from: easy, medium, hard, and extreme. Apart from the difficulty slider, you get four other options to customize. First, you can customize People’s Needs, which controls food consumption and sickness. Next up, you can change Economy, and decide how fast you gather resources, what amount of resources will spawn, or how fast you research technology. Then, you can adjust the Weather, deciding the span and temperature of the cold days. Lastly, you can change Society Attitude, which affects the Hope and Discontent meter.
So, this is how you can change difficulty in Frostpunk. Hopefully, you can now adjust the settings and play the game as you see fit. If you enjoyed reading this guide, stay tuned to DigiStatement for more such gaming content and guides!
