When Fortnite was still relatively new, almost everyone predicted that it would be dying within the month. Its popularity for years has baffled gaming economists, since pretty much every other game in the same vein as this one experiences a sudden fall in popularity. However, the developers of the game, Epic Games, have managed to pull the game through its worst of times and is now enjoying a prolonged period of success, a large factor in this is the fact that they have been able to negotiate and agree upon an absolutely unbelievable amount of crossovers with everything from popular video games and movies to song artists. In this article, we will be talking about the possibility of seeing One Piece added to the list of franchises that have had a crossover with Fortnite. Right, let’s get into it.
One Piece is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. It held the title of the best-selling manga series for eleven consecutive years, from 2008 to 2018. The original manga first started being published all the way back in 1997, and it sparked a full-fledged multimedia franchise ever since, with feature films, television specials, an anime series, a trading card game, several video games, and every piece of merchandising that you could possibly think of. Almost every single volume of the One Piece manga has broken some sort of a print record, so it should not come as a surprise if Epic Games are planning to have a collaboration between Fortnite and One Piece. It could be the perfect way for them to establish their presence in Japan and become a staple in the island nation.
Fans of One Piece online have already begun creating custom maps and skins from the franchise using Fortnite’s custom maps feature, and hopefully, we will be getting official One Piece content in Fortnite very soon, in 2021!
We hope you’re as excited as we are for the potential One Piece and Fortnite crossover. Make sure to check out our other articles on Dead or Alive 7, Control 2, and the various Fortnite crossovers. Cheers!
