Epic Games’ Fortnite is the epitome of a developer using the game as a service idea to the fullest, since the day the game was released. While it is free to download, players are enticed into spending far more than a single game could ever cost via battle passes, cosmetic upgrades, and skins. The major draw to most of these items is the fact that they are from some of the players’ favourite movie franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or popular video games like God of War, as well as beloved TV shows like Rick and Morty, not even leaving behind real-life artists like Travis Scott. In this article, we will be taking a look at the possibility of Dragon Ball Z characters being added to the list of Fortnite collaborations! Right, let’s get into it.
Dragon Ball Z has not had a mainline instalment to its three active franchises (Xenoverse, FighterZ, and Kakarot) for quite a long time now, so it is natural for gamers who are fans of the massively popular Dragon Ball series of anime and manga to be extremely starved for more content with their favourite characters, and Fortnite could be the perfect place for them to make a return. Like every other Fortnite crossover, this too would be a clear-cut win-win situation for both parties, since it would draw a massive interest to Fortnite, while also providing mainstream media attention once again to Dragon Ball Z, allowing them to springboard off it to make an announcement for an upcoming project as we talked about in this article.
Fans online are buzzing about the possibility of seeing the Saiyans in Dragon Ball Z due to the presence of a shadowy figure in one of the loading screens in Fortnite, who seems to have long, spiky blond hair reminiscent of Goku’s, and seems to be wearing a scouter around his waist. While some are convinced this is a reference to Dragon Ball Z, others simply choose to believe what they know for sure, and that comes in the form of online surveys conducted by Epic Games to find out what characters their players would like to see in Fortnite, and several of the options were different characters from Dragon Ball Z!
Keeping all of this in mind, it is quite possible we see a Fortnite x Dragon Ball Z crossover event later this year!
News is breaking online that Epic Games is reportedly working with Shueisha Inc, a well-known Japanese publishing house that owns the rights to several different anime, including partial rights to Dragon Ball Z! If the deal goes through, the crossover will most definitely happen!
