Dead By Daylight Patch 4.7.1 update released, features a lot of bug fixes

Dead by Daylight is one of the most fun to play multiplayer games out on the market right now, and as a result of its massive size and large player base, it can often be plagued by a variety of different issues: including the “Unreal Engine is exiting due to the D3D device being lost” error. In this quick and easy fix for this unreal engine error, we will help you get back to playing Dead by Daylight at the earliest. Make sure to follow closely for the best results! Right, let’s get into it.

  1. Close overclockers: In case you like to tinker with the settings of your device and have overclocked your GPU settings for some applications, ensure you turn them off from the task manager before you want to run Dead by Daylight. This will free up vital resources on your card and help the game run better.
  2. Graphics card drivers:In case you use an NVIDIA graphics card, search up “NVIDIA download drivers” and add in the name of the card that you use into the search parameters and run the search. Download the corresponding driver file and wait for it to complete. Now, select the file you downloaded and run it to install the .exe file. In the installation wizard, select “Custom” install and check the box next to “Perform a clean installation”. Perform the same steps on the AMD driver download page in case you use an AMD card.
  3. Registry tweak: If the error persists, type in “Registry editor” on the search bar of the Windows menu and allow it to make changes to your device. Here, expand the directory named HKEY LOCAL MACHINE. Here, under the SYSTEM folder, open up the Current Control Set folder and enter the Control folder, and finally, the GraphicsDrivers folder. Here, right-click on an empty space and select “New” followed by “DWORD (32-bit) value”. Name the new file “TdrDelay”. In case the file named TdrDelay already exists, simply click on this file and change its value to 10, if it was not already at 10. Once this is done, restart your device and see if the error was fixed by this tweak.
  4. Dual card setup: In case the device you use has a dual graphics card setup, make sure you are using the dedicated card by entering the Graphics settings in your windows menu and select “Browse”. Find the location of the game files of Dead by Daylight in the SteamLibrary folder, steamgames, and finally common. In the Dead by Daylight folder, navigate to the Binaries and then Win64 folder. Here, select the .exe file for Dead by Daylight and select “Add”. Now, select Dead by Daylight from the list and select “Options” and select “High Performance”. Launch the game again and see if the error was fixed.
