The sixteenth main installment of the long-running and massively popular Final Fantasy series is finally here. Titled simply Final Fantasy XVI, the game saw its launch on the PlayStation 5 console as a timed exclusive. With Naoki Yoshida, more lovingly called Yoshi-P, serving as its producer, Final Fantasy XVI had quite high expectations from the fans of the series after the not-so-good performance of Final Fantasy XV. And from what the critics have said so far, it’s pretty clear that FFXVI has successfully saved the series and brought it back to its former glory. Players seem to be enjoying the game a lot, and critics are saying the same too. However, there are some glaring issues in the game. Like this, missing audio/sound not working issue.
Square Enix’s developers have certainly done an amazing job at developing the game. But no matter how skilled a development team is, you can’t really make your game immune to issues, especially technical ones. Now, this missing audio/sound not working issue in FFXVI might seem pretty big, but it’s resolvable like most problems. And here’s a guide to help you with that.
Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI) Missing Audio/Sound not working Issue: Is there any fix yet
At the time of writing this article, we have yet to receive an official fix for this particular issue. As such, we recommend that you follow the potential workarounds shared and see if any of them help you deal with the problem.
Restart PS5 –
First, let’s start with basic troubleshooting. Players can try restarting the console to see if the issue still persists. To restart your PS5, press the “PlayStation” button on your Dualsense controller. This will open the Control Center, following which you will need to select the “Power Icon” located at the far-right end. Next, you will be presented with three Power options: – Enter Rest Mode, Turn off PS5, and Restart PS5. Select the last one and let the console restart.
Install the latest System Software update –
It’s always a good idea to keep your system updated with the latest software. Plus, it’s essential since the console’s overall health is highly dependent on it. This no-sound issue could be due to not having the latest available software update on your PS5. To update it, go to Settings from the home screen. Next, navigate to System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software. Download and install the update, and check if the issue is still there.
Disable 3D Audio Mode –
You can also try disabling the 3D Audio Mode option in your console settings. There have been instances of players being able to resolve sound issues by turning off this feature, so we suggest you give this a try. To do so, go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Enable 3D Audio for Headphones. You can turn off the option from there. If the issue isn’t fixed, set the Output device to Headphones, and change the HDMI Device Type to AV Amplifier or Soundbar. Try both these settings, and check which fixes the issue.
Reinstall –
Some players have also reported that reinstalling the game fixed the missing audio issue in FFXVI for good. So, if none of the above-mentioned workarounds worked, consider uninstalling FFXVI from your PS5 and then installing it again.
We hope you were able to fix the issue using the provided workarounds. For more guides like this, follow make sure to follow DigiStatement.
