F1 23 (F1 2023) not detecting wheel on PS5 & PS4: How to fix it?
At the time of publishing this article, we don’t have any acknowledgment from the developers regarding this particular issue, but there are some community-suggested workarounds you can try.
Restart the game –
First and foremost, let’s start with basic troubleshooting. You can always start by restarting your game on the console. While it is not wholly guaranteed to fix the issue, it can still prove effective enough at times. Do a simple restart and then see if the problem still persists.
Power cycle the PlayStation console –
The issue may lie with the console itself, too. Luckily, you can employ the power cycle method to resolve it. To start, turn off the PlayStation console first. After that, unplug it from the socket and wait for a minute or two. When enough time has passed, plug in the console and power it on. Now, launch the game and check whether the wheel is detected.
Restart Controller/Wheel –
Since the problem is mainly related to the wheel not getting recognized by the game, you can also try restarting it. Consider connecting the wheel/controller to a different system to check whether it is functioning properly.
Reconnect –
Consider disconnecting and re-connecting the controller multiple times and eventually, this should fix the issue for good.
Update the console –
Users aren’t recommended to keep their consoles outdated. System updates are very important and are necessary to keep your console healthy. To update your console, follow the given steps:
PS5 –
Go to System Settings > System. Next, select System Software, and then choose System Software Update and Settings. If a new version of the system software is available, then there will be an “Update Available” notification there. Simply select “Update System Software” to update your PS5.
PS4
Go to Settings from the dynamic menu and select “System Software Update”. Select Next if there happens to be an update available, and lastly, click on the Accept button.
Update controller/wheel-
You need to make sure that the controller/wheel you are using has the latest drivers installed. If not, then this issue can occur. So, consider visiting the official website of the wheel manufacturer, downloading the latest drivers, and installing them. Well, for this, you will need a PC.
Check for physical damage –
If none of the above methods work, it’s time to check for hardware or physical damage. Do so for both the controller/wheel and the console’s port.
