F1 series fans can finally rest at ease as F1 23 made its official debut on June 16, 2023. Reviews of the game have been pretty favorable, with critics handing out praise for its amazing visuals and interesting narrative. However, some players have been going around in the community asking for a fix for the “split screen not working” issue. If you are facing the same problem, we recommend you go through this guide, as we will be sharing all the details.
Racing games have a long history with split-screen modes. One major reason why it is so is that, unlike most other genres like MOBAs, 4x Grand Strategy, and such, racing is “compatible” with this mode. Players don’t need an entire screen to advance further in the game, unlike titles like Civ 6 and Stellaris, where the world map is crucial. Plus, split screen is the perfect mode in racing games for playing with your friends and family. Mario Kart is a great example of that. So, when F1 23 players want to start a session in split-screen mode, they are met with an error. This is something that persisted in previous F1 games as well.
F1 2023 (F1 23) split screen not working: How to fix it
At the time of writing this article, EA is yet to release any official fix for this issue or even an acknowledgment regarding it. Because of this, you will have to make do with some potential workarounds. And since we haven’t figured out the root cause of this issue, it’s suggested that you try all of the methods in the guide.
Restart game –
Let’s start with the obvious workaround. You can do a quick and simple restart of the game before moving on to other, more complex methods. If restarting F1 23 doesn’t fix this issue, then you can move on to the next workaround.
Restart your device –
Previously, you restarted the game. Now do the same with your device too. Additionally, you can power cycle your console.
Reset your screen display settings to default –
You can also reset your screen display settings to default to resolve this issue. This might or might not entirely fix the problem. If the issue still remains, then proceed with the next method.
Try playing the game in Windowed mode –
Since playing split screen in Fullscreen mode doesn’t work, we suggest you try Windowed mode. Just go to the in-game Settings tab > Display Settings. Under Resolution and above Aspect Ratio, you will see the “Display Mode” option. Change Fullscreen to Windowed. Now, try and see if the issue still persists.
Reinstall game –
In case none of the aforementioned methods work for you, you can always perform a reinstall of the game.
Anyway, we hope you were able to fix the issue by trying these potential workarounds. Well, for more guides like this on F1 23 and other games in general, follow DigiStatement.
