June 16th, 2023, marked the launch of EA Sports and Codemasters’ newest title, F1 23. A sequel to F1 22 and its sixteenth entry into the long-running F1 series by EA, the game massively improves upon its predecessor. The visuals are better, the mechanics are refined, and of course, Braking Point 2 is also here. But the game also comes with some annoying issues. Take this “failed to join session” error, for example.
Most players are encountering this issue when they go online in the game. And since online gameplay is a pretty important part of the game, you can understand how frustrating it can be for some. So, if you are facing the same problem, here are some fixes that will help you fix this “failed to join session” error in F1 23.
F1 2023 (F1 23) Failed to join session error: How to fix it
This is a known error in most online multiplayer games. In fact, it was even encountered by players in F1 22. And since it’s a pretty common one, you can resolve it by following this guide.
Check your internet connection –
Since this error falls under the internet side of problems, you can start by checking your internet connection. See to it that there’s no interference. Furthermore, you can also try restarting your router as an added measure.
Disable VPN –
If you are using a VPN, we highly recommend that you disable it as soon as possible. VPNs can slow down your internet speed and even interfere with your connection to the game’s server. Just disable it during your play session, and you are good to go.
Use a wired internet connection –
You can try connecting your device, i.e. console or PC with an ethernet cable rather than a wireless one. A wired connection ensures that you don’t have any unnecessary interruptions while also giving you more speed.Â
Turn Off Crossplay-Â
You can also try disabling crossplay in the game to see if that fixes the problem. Yes, this doesn’t seem like a relevant workaround, but make sure to give it a try.
Disable Antivirus-Â
Well, it may happen that the Antivirus program you are using is restricting the game from connecting to the internet. So, what you can do is either add the game’s .exe file to the exception list of the Antivirus program or disable it completely before you launch F1 23. Doing so might get rid of the issue for good.
Check the game’s server status –
Game servers regularly go under maintenance and such. Due to this, studios generally put out notifications regarding any major workings with the servers. Since F1 23 doesn’t have a dedicated server status website, the next best thing is to follow the game’s Twitter handle.
Restart game –
You can also employ this basic troubleshooting to deal with the issue. We would like to outright mention the fact that there’s a good 50/50 chance that this method will fix your issue. If it doesn’t, then proceed with the next workaround.
Update your system software –
Players can also try updating their system software if they haven’t done so for some time. Updates are critical for the health of your device, so we suggest you do so regularly. To update your
PlayStation
Head straight to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings. Now choose Update System Software, following which you will be asked to select from the given two options: – Update Using Internet and Update from USB Drive. Select “Update Using Internet”. On the next page, you need to click on the Update button, if there’s an update available.
XboxÂ
Press the Home/Xbox button on your Xbox controller. From the Dashboard, select Settings > All Settings > System > Updates. Now, you need to select “Update Console” if there happens to be one available. Go along with the on-screen prompts until the download starts. After it’s downloaded and installed, restart your console.
PC
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security. Next, select Check for updates under the Windows Update section. If an update is available, download and install it right away. After updating, launch the game, and check whether you are able to access the multiplayer features.
Reinstall –Â
Well, as obvious as it may sound, if none of the workarounds fix the issue, then it is advised to reinstall the game completely. After a fresh install, the issue might fix itself.
Anyway, we hope you were able to fix the failed to join session error in F1 23 using our provided workarounds. For more information and guides on F1 23, keep checking out DigiStatement.
