Euro Truck Simulator 3 could be a very distant proposition, due to the fact that Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a rolling release game. What this means is that ETS2 will continually be updated with new maps, locations, vehicles, game modes, and more. As a result, any requirement of releasing a new game is effectively eliminated. Except for perhaps the sole purpose of updating the graphics engine of the game or rebranding it to a completely different continent entirely. As of today, fans seem extremely sceptical about seeing a third addition to the Euro Truck Simulator franchise, with most forums on Reddit and Steam echoing the same things, about a 10 year or even 20-year wait till Euro Truck Simulator 3 comes out. For those of us who were dearly hoping for a graphics update, guess we’ll have to run the game on better hardware, instead of actually being able to get a new game with a better engine. There is also a good chance that the developers will choose to focus on American Truck Sim, after the France and Scandinavia DLCs to Euro Truck Simulator. A steam forum user named Groovy Monster put our yearning of a graphics update to ETS into words in this post from 2016: “It takes them like a year just to get an add-on map DLC out, I don’t even want to think about how long it would take them to make a whole brand new “ETS”! 🙁 Though it would definitely be awesome if they did–the graphics engine in the current version really needs an overhaul and updating to a more modern looking engine at this point.” However, unfortunately, since this is extremely unlikely to happen in the near future, this is what user Claws 2017 had to say in response: “It will be released when pigs fly, when kids eat Brussel sprouts, when politicians start telling the truth, when Donald Trump learns to keep his mouth shut and when Chuck Norris becomes king of planet earth!!!
It seems clear that there is a very long wait ahead of us before a Euro Truck Simulator 3.
