Hopped into NightReign to squad up with your friend and slay some enemies, but never got the third? Just stuck in a continuous loop of the matchmaking queue? You’re not alone. Many players are experiencing this frustrating matchmaking bug, where it takes so long to find teammates that they eventually give up and close the game. And no—it’s not due to a lack of players. In fact, with the game being newly released and having a large player base (based on Steam charts), the issue might be quite the opposite — the servers just can’t handle the overwhelming traffic. That said, how to fix it? Is there any fix?
NightReign is a newly released game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. This roguelike spin-off to the critically acclaimed Elden Ring offers an immersive multiplayer experience that can be played online with other players who team up together to take down the final boss and complete challenges. Although this game can also be played solo, its real charm lies in its co-op experience. But what fun it will be staring at the matchmaking screen with your friend! Don’t stress, though, because we have a few workarounds that can fix these matchmaking issues while you wait on official patches.

Restart Matchmaking
It might sound simple as it is, but sometimes all your matchmaking needs is a refresh. The matchmaking queue might be just stuck in the loop, so to get out of it, simply cancel the matchmaking and restart it again.
Password Check
One of the common issues is that players often create private sessions, allowing only limited players to enter. Next time, before starting an expedition, make sure to allow a third player without a password to join your match. And if you are not using a password, just remove it completely. Also, check the player count in matchmaking settings.
Cross-Region Play
On the default setting, NightReign matchmakes players within their specific region to avoid latency issues, but this might itself be an issue, barring other players from entering your matchmaking. Just head into the in-game Settings menu > Network > enable Cross-Region Play to allow players from other regions to join your matchmaking.
Rest in the Waiting Room
Use the bed located in the Roundtable’s “Waiting Room” to sleep through. This will remove any shifting earth events that are currently active, allowing you to matchmake with a larger pool of players.
Exit the Realm of Remembrance
Similar to shifting world events, while your character is in the Realm of Remembrance, you won’t be able to match with other players who are also in this area. So, leave it and then start matchmaking.
Check Network Connection
It’s not best to always blame game servers when something just might be wrong with your network connection, so try rebooting your router and hope for the best.
Still no fix?
If you are still facing those long hours of matchmaking, then you can try playing at another time. Sometimes overloaded servers just can’t handle any more players, denying access to matchmaking. Try playing at non-peak hours and then check whether the issue has been fixed.
But if you really want to play the game after awaiting all those hours, then don’t let the multiplayer restriction stop you. Although it will be harder and more challenging, you can always play the game in solo mode.
That said, we hope this guide helped you overcome those infinite matchmaking loops in Elden Ring NightReign. If you found this guide helpful, be sure to check out DigiStatement daily for any updates on this situation or more guides related to gaming.
