Dune: Awakening is a survival game developed by Funcom that was released recently this year. It lets players explore the world of Arrakis by creating their own playable avatar. However, it has recently received criticism for its server and connection issues. Many players have complained of getting the Generic Connection Lost error on their screen. First, let’s get to know the characteristics of the problem in detail. It started after the 1.1.10.00 update when players started seeing the Generic Connection Lost error. It is specifically limited to players who try to log in to the Hagga Basin servers. So, is there any fix for this issue yet?
Players are either stuck at the loading screen or get kicked out of the server or can’t connect at all. Developers have also said that the Generic Connection lost is being faced at spawn points in the northern regions. While the developers have acknowledged the issue, they have also released a fix. Apparently a client-side hotfix has done the necessary for the error. So, make sure you’ve updated the game. However, if you are still facing the issue like some players, then consider reading this guide for more details.

Dune Awakening Generic Connection lost error troubling players after update: Is there any fix yet
Some players have suggested that logging into different servers to play the game will work fine. However, you will have to start from scratch. Your data in the main server will remain unaffected but you won’t be able to access it. This might seem doable for those starting fresh. But for players at a higher level, it might seem to be a nuisance. So, another workaround that is being suggested and officially endorsed by the developer is as follows: You will need to join a different sietch in your home server. After this, you will spawn at Griffin’s Reach trading post. Exit the game and wait for 30 seconds before logging back into your home sietch. You will not encounter the generic connection lost error anymore and spawn at Griffin’s Reach in your home sietch.
This being said, there are still issues with this fix. Firstly, it works for players on public servers. The ones using private servers will still encounter the error. Secondly, this method works only until the first death of your avatar. So, if you die more than once, the Generic Connection Lost error will still persist.
Conclusion
So far, this is the only fix that is available, and most players are confused as to what to do next. Nonetheless, the game has been praised for its gameplay, graphics, and story and seems to be worth the cost. Hopefully, the recurring issue will dissolve sooner as the developers are working on the patch. The latest one released on 7 July 2025, namely 1.1.15.0, does fix a lot of bugs and introduces new features. But since many are still facing the same issue, another hotfix is needed for the same.
