Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma was a high-fantasy hack n’ slash video game developed and published by Capcom for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. An enhanced version of the game, titled Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was released by Capcom for the original consoles a year later, subsequently being adapted for Microsoft Windows in 2016, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, and Nintendo Switch in 2019. While the gameplay is completely melee-oriented, inspiration for the plot is known to have been taken from western titles like The Elder Scrolls 4. In this article, we will be taking a look at the various leaks online stating Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in the works, and when it could be coming out.
The well known Capcom leaker, AestheticGamer aka DuskGolem revealed on Twitter a few months ago that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is definitely still in development, and will use the RE engine which has become synonymous with Capcom’s games. “It’s pretty safe to assume most Capcom games that aren’t ports, remasters, or very specifically using an engine for one reason or another will be using RE Engine. Dragon’s Dogma 2 100% are using the RE Engine, but that’s not a surprising thing I’d say”, said DuskGolem in his tweet.
More recently, news has surfaced online that the game looks stunning in terms of visuals despite lacking ray-tracing technology, due to a new fake mapping system developed by Capcom. Capcom is not exactly well known for letting their fans get regular and hearty updates regarding their upcoming projects, but AestheticGamer aka DuskGolem and other leakers and whistleblowers online are doing a pretty solid job of keeping us in the loop regarding Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will undoubtedly be an exciting new release to the next-generation consoles and makes getting your hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S even more important. The game originally had an expected release date sometime in 2022 but seems to have delayed till at least the second quarter of 2023, according to rumours online.
