Noxville Shares his Thoughts on DPC 2021
Dota 2 Analyst Ben Noxville Stinuizen shared his thoughts on the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit 2021 leagues . According to him, from a financial point of view, this is the worst ecosystem in the discipline since the days after The International 2013. Stinuizen said this in an interview with GameInside.
The prize pools are lower, and this despite the fact that we have the tenth TI cp,omg, from a financial point of view, this is the worst Dota ecosystem since the days after the third TI. When the new DPC season was just announced, there was some uncertainty as to whether third-party organizers would be allowed to host their tournaments during the DPC (and whether teams from DPC tournaments would be able to take part in them). A few months ago I was told that Valve had clarified to some TOs that team participation in the DPC should be strictly exclusive, but from what I heard recently, Valve changed their mind. Because of this spanking, some TOs seek further clarification before working on any projects.”
Noxville also spoke about the format of qualifiers, in which in most regions there was no opportunity to get into the first division through open qualifiers.
“I don’t think that the decision was entirely up to Valve, and if they wanted to, then I see no reason why Valve should have refused them. BTS stood up for it openly, and they got it. As it stands, the Top Division consists of the top 4 teams in the region + an additional four out of the next top eight, which means that every Top Division match is played between two well-known and worthy teams (and there is no chance that any random upstarts will hit to the Top Division after a successful qualification). This is most likely beneficial for their number of views, which is why the organizers limit the teams from the the openqual to getting into the 1st Division. “
