Disney Dreamlight Valley giving error occurred message on Switch: How to fix it?

Gameloft’s Disney Dreamlight Valley finally left its early access phase and is now fully released. This long-awaited event happened on December 5, 2023, which also marked the release of its first paid expansion, A Rift in Time! Following its full release, the game saw an incredible rise in player numbers. Steam alone achieved an all-time peak player count of over 14K players (at the time of publishing this guide). Suffice it to say that Dreamlight Valley is gaining slow albeit steady, traction. However, even though the game’s not in early access anymore, it still has some major issues. Switch players in particular seem to be encountering a frequent error message whenever playing the game.

Well, we can’t really give you a clear-cut answer as to what’s causing this issue. Honestly, it could be anything ranging from the game not being updated to some cache errors. Nevertheless, it’s a major issue and, as such, needs to be dealt with immediately. So, is there any fix for this? Well, continue reading to find out.

Follow the workarounds mentioned below and check if any of them are of help to you. Try not to skip unless you have already tried before. Well, the good thing is that the developers are indeed aware of the crashing issue of the game on Switch and have stated that they are working on a fix. So, until an official fix is released, here are some workarounds for you to try:

Restart –

The very first thing that we recommend you do is restart the game. However, if the issue persists, we suggest you restart the Nintendo Switch itself. While we can’t completely guarantee that this will fix this issue, we still recommend you give it a try. And if you still encounter this issue, switch to another workaround.

Reset cache –

You can also try resetting the cache to see if that works. Now, if you don’t know how to do that, just follow the instructions below:

  • Head over to the HOME menu of your Nintendo Switch console and select System Settings.
  • Next, keep scrolling down, and then select System.
  • Find Formatting Options and click on it.
  • Now select Reset Cache and confirm it.

Update the game –

Many issues like this can be resolved by updating the game. So, if you haven’t updated the game in a while, go and do so. However, if you are still unable to resolve this problem, check out another workaround.

Update the Switch –

Keep your Nintendo Switch updated if you don’t want to encounter issues like this one. This is one of the most common workarounds for dealing with such issues. Try it, and if the problem goes away, then great. However, if it continues, you can check out the next method.

Reinstall –

If nothing else works, we highly recommend that you reinstall the game. However, make sure you have linked your account so that you don’t lose your progress. Once that’s done, delete Disney Dreamlight Valley, and then download and install it again.

Well, these are the workarounds you can try. Additionally, if you want to know how to get cheese in the game, take a look at this guide. For more guides like this, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: Disney Dreamlight Valley Initialization Error #201: How to Fix it?
