Racing gaming is always providing that F1 feels when we control the steering. The arcade vibes of sitting on a chair and driving a car with breaks and gear were perhaps the first time we tried driving a car. It’s no surprise that we still remember the good old days of Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout Paradise. We surely cannot miss out on the Colin McRae Rally and Dirt racing game series. The first version came back in 1998.
About Dirt5
The fifth sequel of the Colin McRae Rally and Dirt racing game series saw the publication and development under Codemasters. Initially, the game came out for the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on a universal date, on the 6th of November 2020. The ninth-generation consoles also got their version where
- Xbox Series X|S – 10th of November, 2020
- Sony PlayStation 5- 12th November 2020 (in Oceania, Japan, South Korea and North America)
19th November (rest of the world) - Stadia- 24th March 2021
Codemasters developed a video game for the last time, as their former rival Electronic Arts (EA) bought their stocks on the 18th of February 2021.
Players in Dirt5 focused on off-road racing. Genres of various types of race within the game consist of rallycross, Stadium Super Trucks, ice racing, and off-road buggies. Players get a range of locations, spanned across the world. Alphabetically, they are Arizona (USA), Brazil, China, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, New York City (USA), Norway and South Africa.
A touch of realism comes with the inclusion of a dynamic weather system and seasons, which affect the racing significantly. So in the winter season, a player can only compete in ice racing events in New York. Multiplayer reaches another level with an introduction of a four-player split-screen system.
Dirt 6 Release Date for PS5, Xbox Series X & Windows: When Is It Coming Out
Looking at the recent release of Dirt5, it seems that new owners EA (Electronic Arts) would focus on popularising the game and work on its marketing, with events and tournaments taking place. The rumoured Dirt6 would take some time to come into the market. The release of Dirt5 in Stadia can present the image that the fifth part of the game is here to stay for some time.
But let us look at the pattern of all the release dates of titles under the Dirt racing game series:
- Colin McRae: Dirt (2007)
- Colin McRae: Dirt 2 (2009)
- Dirt 3 (2011)
- Dirt: Showdown (2012)
- Colin McRae Rally (2013)
- Dirt Rally (2015)
- Dirt 4 (2017)
- Dirt Rally 2.0 (2019)
- Dirt 5 (2020)
Keeping this chronology in mind, we can expect either a Dirt Rally 3.0 on the horizon, which can come 2022 or perhaps 2023. When it comes to Dirt 6, we can expect the game not to release before 2023 (or perhaps 2024.) Electronic Arts (EA) would be profiting from the current latest title of the racing game series.
