Are you facing crashing errors in Diablo? Is the constant freezing hampering your game time? Read this blog where we share the fix for you. A pre-requisite for this progress would be downloading another game called Heroes Of The Storm. We would be utilising a game file, to fix this Diablo 3 issue. Read this article as you will find the usage of the Heroes Of The Storm file in fixing the Diablo 3 crashing/freezing issue.
Diablo Crashing Fix
- Download Heroes Of The Storm
- From the Blizzard launcher, head to the Settings
- After this, on the left-hand side, you will get the option of the Downloads tab.
- From here, go to the Game Updates option.
- There, you will get to see the option of Never automatically apply updates
- Disable this
By this, Diablo will try to read and find that the game file has been replaced. Henceforth, it will try to fix it. After disabling the auto-updates option, close the Blizzard launcher completely. Completely close it from your Task Manager (use Ctrl+Alt+Del to access).
Now go to the Heroes Of The Storm folder. You can henceforth access the game file location from Blizzard Launcher. As the folder opens up, you need to select and open folder Support64. After this folder opens up, you need to type f in the search bar. You will notice that there’s only a DLL file, which starts with the letter f. The filename would be fmodes64_4_44_23.dll. You need to copy and paste the file in a location of your choice.
Freezing Fix
Therefore, the fmodes64_4_44_23.dll file you copy needs some tweak. Just rename the file as fmodes64. We would be taking this file and paste it into the Diablo game file location. So cut/copy the file and head to the Diablo folder. From here, you will see the folder x64. Paste the file here, and you will see that you are about to replace a previous file with the same name. Accept the replacement. Restart the game from the Blizzard launcher. You might come across the message where Blizzard is asking to update or fix the file. Therefore, in this case, close the Blizzard launcher again and repeat the file replacement process, as mentioned above. We recommend you keep a copy of the fmodes64 file, so that copy and pasting become easier for you.
After completing these processes, you will notice that the freezing issue or the repetitive crashing issue of Diablo gets fixed. But along with this, you would not be able to hear any sound in Diablo 3. For more gaming tutorials, click here.
