In a recent developer blog post which had a rundown from Destiny 2 2020 updates, Bungie hinted on the release date of Destiny 3 which was a surprise to the community. The blog post details a lot of upcoming changes to Destiny 2. The blog post hinted that the Destiny 3 release would be ‘beyond’ this year almost eliminating year 2020 and 2021. The interesting part of the whole fiasco is that we know with credible information that the development for Destiny 3 is underway. Destiny 3 will be an epic release, rumoured to be even more hardcore and RPG-based than Destiny 2, where Guardians can use Darkness and face against the mysterious race called Veil currently on their way to Earth in Pyramid Ships.
The Veil are said to be an alien race that serves the darkness in the same way that the Guardians serve the light. By introducing these new elements, players would also be able to wield new darkness based subclasses and explore new locations including Old Chicago, one of the moons of Jupiter known as Europa, the return of Venus, and a Pyramid Ship as an endgame location.
David Dague, the communication director did make an official statement on Destiny 3 when he stated that the next year is focusing on the upcoming four season of Destiny 2 and there are currently no outlook on the future. It stands to reason though that Destiny 3 will be made for the next generation of PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and is scheduled for somewhere late 2022.
For the time being, there is a major expansion pack for Destiny 2 that is scheduled and players will have to be content with the updates as a proper conclusion to Shadowkeep awaits.
