Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles, developed by CyberConnect2, is a video game adaptation of the Demon Slayer anime. The game features story mode, versus mode, and multiplayer for players to experience different gameplay elements. Its sequel, launched in August this year, further explored the story of the Demon Slayer Corps and their fight against demons. It will cover three major arcs from the anime; however, according to the reviews so far, it seems that the prequel was better received than this title. This update launches on September 18, in which 8 new characters will be added in total, including Muzan Kibutsuji. This update will include both paid and free content, and Muzan is part of the free VS mode in the game. The other characters are: Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho, Douma, Akaza, and Kaigaku from the Infinity Castle arc. Their dress and skin will be matched with what was featured in the movie. These can either be purchased individually or as a pass. Additional characters will be released as per the official information; however, the dates haven’t been revealed. Therefore, the VS mode roster will have a total of 40 characters, including the 9 Hashiras. The story mode in this game picks up after the Mugen Train arc, where the prequel left off, and continues through the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training arcs.
