Dead by Daylight is one of the most popular survival horror titles among players. The game officially came out in 2016 and has amassed a large fan following ever since. One of the major factors that has kept the players hooked on the game is the beta tests. The Public Test Build modes, also known as PTB, allow players to experience new features and updates. However, oftentimes, players trying to access these beta builds don’t get to experience it due to certain bugs. For example, multiple players have experienced the bug where they can’t find their PTB while trying the beta mode. This means that for both the developers and the players, the PTBs are quite important. So, whenever these PTBs encounter bugs, it becomes a cause for worry for all parties concerned. Dead by Daylight (DBD) PTB Not Showing Up: How to Fix?

Dead by Daylight (DBD) not showing up

Unfortunately, if you’re facing this problem with PTB in Dead by Daylight, there isn’t any official fix for it yet. That is indeed surprising, given the sheer popularity of these test builds. In fact, players continue to search for fixes that can help them enjoy these PTBs. Take the post from Reddit user Its_not_a_mantis as an example. They were trying to play the PTB but it wasn’t showing up in the beta settings. So, what can you do if such problems burden you as well?

Check if the PTB is Available

As pointed out by multiple Reddit users, a PTB for DBD only lasts for about a week. You need to make sure that you access it on time. If the timeline gets over, the PTB won’t show up in the beta settings anymore. So, hurry if you want to play a particular PTB and experience it before the deadline. If you don’t know how to access the PTB, here’s how to do it:

  • Go to Steam and open your library.
  • Locate and right-click on Dead by Daylight.
  • Go to Properties.
  • Click on the Beta tab.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Public-Test.
  • If there’s a PTB available, this should start the download.

Verify Game Files

Reddit user UsedCelery shared that verifying game files fixed the problem for them. So, you can try the same:

  • Go to Steam and open your library.
  • Right-click on Dead by Daylight.
  • Go to Properties.
  • Open Installed Files.
  • Click on “Verify integrity of game files“.
  • Wait until the process is complete. Access Dead by Daylight Betas and see if the PTB is accessible.

Restart Steam

Players have also reported that restarting Steam fixed the problem for them. For this, press the Steam button on the top left corner of your Steam client. Then, click on Exit. Once Steam closes, launch it again. Go to Dead by Daylight Betas and see if you can find the PTB.

Locate the PTB in Steam Big Picture Mode

Steam user YOSHIMI shared that their friend fixed this issue by locating the PTB in Steam Big Picture mode. To access the Big Picture mode, first open the Steam client. Then, on the top right corner, look for the Big Picture button. Click on it and you’ll enter Big Picture mode. Then, follow the aforementioned steps to search for the PTB for Dead by Daylight. See if it works.

Reinstall the Game on a Different Drive

For some players, like Steam user sad saggie, the problem may lie in the hard drive. To fix this, consider reinstalling the game on a different SSD. Doing so might fix the issue for good.

Well, for now, these are the only available workarounds that you can try if your PTB isn’t showing up in Dead by Daylight (DBD). Hopefully, our guide was successful in helping you with your problem.
