2023 has another indie hit, and it’s called Dave the Diver. Released by Mintrocket, a sub-division of Nexon, the game finally saw its official 1.0 launch on June 28, 2023, after being in early access for some months. Playing as an overweight diver, you are tasked with catching various fish during the day and running a sushi restaurant at night. Now, while many have been enjoying their time with this game, there’s a subset of players who are more than eager to play the game on their ultrawide displays.
Ultrawide screens have been gaining popularity over the years. Thanks to less expensive Ultrawide-supported monitors, many players now have the ability to enjoy their games on a wider screen. But its implementation is entirely dependent on a game’s development team. If they don’t see a big enough reason, they might just skip adding Ultrawide support. So, how do you enable Ultrawide in Dave the Diver? Let’s find out!
Dave the Diver: How to enable Ultrawide Support
At the time of writing this article, Dave the Diver doesn’t have any official ultrawide support. Many in the community are asking for ultrawide support, but the developers have yet to respond to this demand. Although we do have a workaround you can use.
You can use Borderless Gaming to play the game on your Ultrawide monitor. But what is it exactly? The GitHub page of BG describes it as “Borderless Gaming is a simple tool that will allow you to turn your windowed video games into “fullscreen” applications without all of the negative side effects”. Put simply, BG is an open-source tool that helps users run their games in fullscreen or ultrawide resolutions. So, now that you are familiar with what Borderless Gaming is, let’s see how you can install and run it.
First and foremost, go to the GitHub page of Borderless Gaming and download the latest available .exe file from the “releases” section. Click on Assets and download the setup file from there. Next, install the downloaded file. Alternatively, you can also install the tool by buying it through Steam. After the installation is done, open it and proceed with the setup wizard.
Now, open Dave the Diver and head straight for the Settings menu. Go to Display and change the screen preference to Windowed. After that, open Borderless Gaming. Here, you will see Dave the Diver under the Application section. Select it along with the “Play ” icon located in the middle. You should now be able to play Dave the Diver on your ultrawide display.
Note: If you see black bars, you can remove them by right-clicking on Dave the Diver inside the tool, and then manually adjusting the resolution at which you want to run the game.
Since ultrawide support isn’t officially available in Dave the Diver, you will have to make do with this alternative for now. Do note that using Borderless Gaming with Dave the Diver can be a little buggy, so be prepared for some glitches or issues while using it to run the game. We would be sure to update you on Ultrawide support when/if the developers release this feature for the game. Meanwhile, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement to get the latest on everything gaming.
