The classic Contra series once again makes its return with the release of Contra: Operation Galuga. Officially launched on March 12, 2024, it’s a reimagining of the original Contra from the 80’s and features new enemies, gameplay mechanics, stages, and more. Contra: Operation Galuga is available on all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, and fans seem to be having a great time with it. The previous entry into the series 2019’s Contra: Rogue Corps was a particularly disappointing release and had many fans worried about the series’ future. Fortunately, Contra: Operation Galuga, while not a masterpiece, is a far better addition to the Contra series. But being a newly released title, there’s a lot about it that players don’t know about. A major question that many have been asking in regards to it is whether co-op mode will be available in the game.
The Contra series has always focused on co-op since its start in 1987. Since then, co-op play has advanced into the online sphere, thanks to the popularity of multiplayer titles. And now that Contra: Operation Galuga is out, fans want to know if online co-op mode will be available. So, let’s go ahead and find out.
Contra: Operation Galuga Online co-op multiplayer mode: Will it be available?
At the time of publishing this, Contra: Operation Galuga doesn’t have an online co-op multiplayer mode. It is certainly a bummer for many fans who were looking to play the game online. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy co-op in the game. Contra: Operation Galuga does have a co-op feature but unfortunately, it’s limited to local co-op play and up to 4 players in total.
A lot of players have been asking for online co-op to be added to the game but so far, developer WayForward has yet to do that. In fact, WayForward hasn’t even announced or shared any info on whether they plan to introduce online co-op to Contra: Operation Galuga later on. So, for now, if you intend to enjoy the game with friends or other players, then you will have to do that in a local co-op setting.
To be honest, it’s pretty baffling that there’s no online co-op for a game costing $39.99. That’s one of the bare minimum features that players expect from a game that’s focused on co-op. Why didn’t WayForward include online co-op in the game? Well, that’s the kind of information we aren’t privy to. But we sure do hope that the game gets an online co-op in future updates. And if the developers do announce anything specifying details of the same, we will be sure to let our readers know all about it.
Well, that’s all the information we have on this. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know how to invite friends in Fae Farm and enjoy the game with them.
