Call of Duty: WWII might be a couple of years old, but its player base is still active, and it has one of the most riveting campaigns in the franchise. Unfortunately, some PC and console gamers have been encountering a troublesome problem recently—Disk Read Error. Usually, this error occurs when the user is unable to start the game or get past specific loading screens. In this article, we will share some solutions and advice to help you fix this issue if you are having trouble.

The Disk Read Error tends to pop up either when you boot the game or are attempting to load into a certain mission or map. It will likely read something like the following: “Fatal Error Disc read error [Train]” This is an indication of a corrupt game file or texture asset in relation to the game map or mode you attempt to access. It may also be the result of a storage problem, outdated drivers, or faulty patches.

Restart Computer

A quick restart will clear any temporary data and background applications that might be interfering with the game. Completely close Steam. Restart your computer. After rebooting, open the game client and attempt to start Call of Duty: WWII.

Redownload Problematic Files

There are some reports that it can be resolved by manually deleting these files, which cause problems.
