From Dredge and Sea of Stars to Lethal Company and Cassette Beasts, 2023 was truly a great year for fans of indie video games. The same year also saw the release of Mike Klubnika’s Buckshot Roulette. For the uninitiated, Buckshot Roulette is a short tabletop horror title where you will be playing Russian roulette with an entity known as The Dealer. Win and you walk away with the prize. Lose and you receive nothing but a bullet to your head. The game had been available on itch.io for quite a while and was recently released on Steam too. As with any other new release, there’s a lot about it that fans want to know. Some of the major questions happen to be related to the multiplayer mode, mod support, and a Mac version of Buckshot Roulette.
A multiplayer mode for Buckshot Roulette in particular is something that many fans happen to be quite curious about. Being able to play Buckshot Roulette with your friends and other players is a very enticing thought and it’s evident that the game is perfect for a multiplayer mode. Besides that, mod support and the Mac version are also two things that a ton of players want. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out if Buckshot Roulette supports all these.
Buckshot Roulette Multiplayer mode, Mod Support & Mac version details
Well, let’s start with the multiplayer mode availability for Buckshot Roulette. Players should be happy to know that the game indeed does have multiplayer mode support. Unfortunately, it isn’t available as of now. To be specific, Buckshot Roulette is slated to get a multiplayer mode sometime this year, as stated in the Buckshot Roulette FAQ.
“Buckshot Roulette Multiplayer? Please??
Updated: We’ve heard you loud and clear! Multiplayer for Buckshot Roulette is coming later this year.
Stay tuned for more info!”
As for mod support, yes, you can enjoy Buckshot Roulette with mods. But there’s a caveat to it. Currently, mods are only compatible with the itch.io version of the game, as right now the Steam version doesn’t support Steam Workshop. So, if you happen to have the itch.io version of the game, then we recommend joining the BR’s official Discord server and clicking on this link to check out some recommended mods. Interestingly, Harry Fink (on Steam) stated that they would look into the possibility of adding Steam Workshop support to the game in the future.
Haven’t looked into that yet, might consider in the future
So, what about the Mac version? Unfortunately, currently, there are no plans for a Mac version of Buckshot Roulette. But, as mentioned in the FAQ section and official Discord server, players have been able to launch Buckshot Roulette on Mac using Parallels. Some have even got it running using Crossover, so you can also try that. Suffice it to say, it’s better to use these two alternatives than wait for an official Mac port, as it’s not being developed due to technical issues.
