DON’T NOD, the studio behind Vampyr and Life is Strange 1 & 2, is back with its latest title, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Released just recently on February 13, 2024, it’s a third-person action RPG game where players get to play as Banishers, those who hunt spirits. Available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, so far the game’s been receiving positive reviews from both critics and fans, all thanks to the good narrative and rewarding gameplay. All in all, it’s a pretty great game, and as such, many are looking forward to playing it on the go by using the Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck’s library of playable games keeps expanding by the day, and it’s all been possible to rigorously support the Deck in the form of regular software updates and even a mid-gen refresh. We already have a ton of games running flawlessly on the Deck, and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden getting the same treatment is something fans want to see. So, let’s go ahead and find out BGONE’s best Steam Deck settings for high fps and performance.
Best Banishers Ghosts of New Eden Steam Deck Settings for High FPS & performance
As of now, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is officially considered Playable as confirmed by both the developer DON’T NOD and ProtonDB. So far, there’s only one report on the Steam Deck section of the game’s ProtonDB page, but it does offer some great insight into how the game performs for the Steam Deck. As evidenced by that report, the game runs perfectly fine out of the box. Furthermore, it looks like the game also happens to have an official layout and even a dedicated graphic preset for the Deck. DON’T NOD really did an amazing job at making the game playable for the Deck, despite the game not being a Verified title.
While the game might run just fine without any tinkering, players are still recommended to try out the settings below to get an even smoother experience on the Steam Deck.
- Display mode: Fullscreen
- Screen resolution: 1280×800
- Maximum frame rate: Unlimited
- Vertical synchronization: Enabled
- Anti-aliasing/upsampling: TAA
- Resolution scaling: 74% for OLED, 78% for LCD
- Motion blur: Off
- View distance quality: Low
- Foliage quality: Low
- Texture quality: High
- Effects quality: Low
- Shadow quality: Low
- Post-processing quality: High
- Anti-aliasing: High
- HDD compatibility mode: On
After this, don’t forget to lock your Deck’s screen refresh rate at 72Hz if you’ve got an OLED Deck. Otherwise, keep it at 60Hz for the LCD Deck. The above settings are of course, with TAA. The game also happens to have FSR 2.2, so you can also use that if you want. Here are the settings you need to apply:
- Display mode: Borderless
- Screen resolution: 1280×800
- Maximum frame rate: 45 FPS
- Vertical synchronization: Off
- Anti-aliasing/upsampling: FSR 2.2
- FSR 2 Quality: Balanced
- FSR 2 Sharpness: 99%
- Graphics quality: Low
- Motion blur: Off
- View distance quality: Low
- Foliage quality: Low
- Texture quality: Low
- Effects quality: Low
- Shadow quality: Low
- Post-processing quality: Low
- Anti-aliasing: Low
- HDD compatibility mode: Off
This will get you an average of 45 FPS at the cost of low graphics. But it’s certainly the best if you only care about performance. There are also other FSR 2 Quality options like Performance and Quality. You can of course run the game on Medium but know that it would make it run at 30 FPS.
By the way, we also recommend installing and setting up CryoUtilities in order to get more performance out of your Deck. Use its recommended settings and enjoy Banishers: Ghosts of Eden.
