After a series of delays, Ubisoft’s flagship title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has finally been released for the global audience. Available on Windows, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, and even iPadOS, the game’s accessibility on various platforms will surely help it reach the masses and gain good reviews, provided it isn’t another mess from the studio. Anyway, since you are reading this, it is clear that you are looking to play the game on your Steam Deck. Well, if so, consider reading this guide for the best Assassin’s Creed Shadows Steam Deck settings for high FPS & performance. Here’s everything you need to know.
If you take a look at the game’s system requirements, you will notice that they aren’t too shabby. Considering that the game has been released in 2025, it has decent hardware needs, that are well within the capabilities of the Steam Deck. Well, this doesn’t mean that you can just apply High/Ultra Graphics Settings and expect to get 40-60 FPS while playing the game on the handheld. Of course, you can play the game on the Deck but with the right and optimized settings that can give you a balance between both visuals and performance. So, that being said, here are more details on the same.

Best Assassin’s Creed Shadows Steam Deck Settings for High FPS & Performance
To change the in-game settings, first, head over to the main menu or pause menu and then select the Options setting. Now, in the Video tab, apply the following changes:
- Field of View: 88
- Raytraced Global Illumination: Diffuse Hideout Only
- Aspect Ratio: 16:10
- VSync: Off
- Resolution: 1280×800
- Upscaler Type: TAA
- Minimum Dynamic Resolution: 35%
- Maximum Dynamic Resolution: 65%
- Sharpen Strength: 0.75
- Frame Generation: FSR (only if you are okay with input lag)
Note: Although the game is verified for the Steam Deck, there are many customizable options missing when compared to its PC counterpart.
Well, with Frame Generation enabled, you should be getting close to 40 FPS while playing the game on your Deck, but the number just looks good on paper. If you enable Frame Generation, then the input lag in the game will be considerably high and will make gameplay literally unplayable. Therefore, we suggest that you disable it and then play the game. With Frame Generation disabled, you should get close to 25-30 FPS in the game which is quite satisfactory.
In addition to this, you can try the Intel XeSS upscaler or AMD FSR 3.1 to add some variety to the FPS. Although this won’t contribute much. In our opinion, using TAA upscaler is the best for now if you want a balance of both visual and performance.
For now, these are the settings we recommend that you try to get high FPS & performance while playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows on your Steam Deck. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
