BattleBit Remastered saw its early access release in June 2023 and quickly went on to garner a loyal following. While the player numbers have gone down a bit since release, they’re still nowhere near disaster levels. And with the game being playable on the Steam Deck, there’s hope that there will be an increase in player numbers. However, for that to happen, something needs to be done about the crashing issue that many are facing in-game while running it on the Deck.
Because of how common crashing issues like this one are, it’s nearly impossible to find the root cause. Plus, BattleBit Remastered is yet to be Verified on the Steam Deck, so issues like this are to be expected. However, because it’s so common, it also means that there are a lot of workarounds for it. And so, here are all the available fixes for the BattleBit Remastered crashing on Steam Deck issue that many players happen to be having trouble with.
Battlebit remastered crashing on Steam Deck: How to fix it?
Players can use the following workarounds to deal with this issue. So, follow these one by one and check if any one of them is of help.
Restart the Deck –
The very first thing that we recommend you do is restart the Steam Deck. Once the restart is done, launch Battlebit Remastered and see if it crashes again. If it does, you can switch to the next workaround.
Update –
One thing you should always make sure of is that all of your games and the Deck itself are updated to the latest version. This will help a ton in avoiding a lot of issues and could possibly do away with this one. However, if the issue continues to persist, you can check out other methods.
Change Proton versions –
A lot of game-related crashing issues on the Steam Deck can be solved by simply changing the Proton version that is used to run the game. So, if you haven’t tried this method before, we recommend you do so. To change the Proton version used to run the game, first, head over to the Steam library, and right-click on BattleBit Remastered. After this, select the Properties option and head over to the Compatibility tab. Here, checkmark the Force Compatibility Option and select a Proton version of your choice. You can choose Proton Experimental, 8.0-3, or Proton GE for the same.
Download Anti-Cheat –
For this one, you need to enter Desktop Mode first and then open Steam. From there, search Anti-cheat in the Library, and download it. Once it’s installed, switch back to Gaming Mode and then launch BattleBit Remastered. This should help get rid of this issue. If it doesn’t, try the next fix.
Change Launch Options –
Some players have had success dealing with issues like this by simply changing launch options. As such, we recommend that you try this method. For this, head over to the game’s properties menu on Steam, and select the General tab. Now, in the Launch Options menu, choose the Install & Repair Easy Anti Cheat option. After this, launch the game. This worked for Sgtyorkk, so it might work for you as well.
Reinstall –
If the crashing issue is still there, you can try reinstalling the game. However, even though this might not work completely, we still recommend you give this method a try. If the issue remains, the next fix might prove helpful.
Use Windows –
From what we have seen so far, the community generally recommends dual-booting Windows on the Deck and then playing Battlebit Remastered. This is the optimal way to play the game for now since, as we stated before, Battlebit Remastered is yet to be Verified on the Deck. So, give this method a try.
