Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is the latest title from DON’T NOD, the same studio that made games like Vampyr, and Life is Strange 1 & 2. Available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, the game was released just recently on February 13, 2024, and has been receiving quite a positive reception since then. Mixing the narrative brilliance of the studio’s past works with the action-RPG genre, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a compelling game. New players continue to join in on the fun, but as always, there are a ton of questions they need answers to. And this guide here will help you get the answer to whether the game has ultrawide and super ultrawide support.
Playing a game on an ultrawide or super-ultrawide screen is quite a unique experience. However, adding in support for it is still down on the priority list for developers, due to just how niche the numbers for players who play a game in ultrawide and super ultrawide are. A large number of players still play in the normal aspect ratio, which means developers have to focus on that first. So, what’s the case with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden? Does the game have support for ultrawide and super ultrawide screens? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Banishers Ghosts of New Eden Ultrawide (21:9) & Super Ultrawide (32:9) Support Details
As of now, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has official support for only Ultrawide Ratio (21:9), and even that’s limited to gameplay. There’s no super ultrawide support at all. Honestly, quite unfortunate news to hear, as many were looking forward to enjoying the game on super ultrawide screens, but it is what it is. However, all hope is not lost. While there might not be official support right now, as always, players have found a way to circumvent this problem.
As we stated before, even the Ultrawide support is limited to gameplay, and so when cutscenes appear, the screen switches to 16:9. But RoseTheFlower released a fix for this problem, which players can use to play the cutscenes in Ultrawide and even enjoy Banishers Ghosts of New Eden on Super Ultrawide. Tested at 2560×1080, 3440×1440, and 5120×1440, this particular “fix” is stated to remove “the black bars from the main view, menu, and cutscenes without reducing the field of view.”
Now, to use this fix, you need to head to this GitHub page and download the Banishsers.ultrawide.v1.0.zip file. Once the download is complete, extract the file and put the contents inside \NWD\Binaries\Win64.
Currently, this is the only proven workaround if you want to play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden in either Super Ultrawide or cutscenes in proper Ultrawide. And if you are waiting for the developers to add official support for Super Ultrawide, then you will need to wait a bit for that to happen. However, there is no guarantee that the developers will ever consider adding super ultrawide support.
