Balatro is a deck-building game based on the rules of poker. It was inspired by the card game Big Two and is primarily a single-player game. However, if you feel like playing against real people instead of bots, there’s a mod available. The developer didn’t add the option for multiplayer, nor has any update been introduced in this regard. Hence, modding is the preferred method for multiplayer gameplay. While installing from unknown sources may carry risks, we have provided the steps to install the widely used Balatro Multiplayer Mod (community-supported).
Balatro multiplayer mod download link and how to use it?
There are two simple ways to install the multiplayer mod for this game. They cover the same basic steps; however, one uses the official launcher while the other is a manual installation. It may be noted that the mod will work only for Steam users. We have explained both methods below:
Using launcher
- Download the multiplayer launcher from the official site.
- Run the launcher and follow the steps as directed to complete the installation.
- This will automatically install the required mod files in the right places and let you switch between different versions easily.
Manual method
- First, you’ll need to download Steamodded and Lovely injector from GitHub. Choose the file for the specific OS you are operating on. Next, download the Balatro multiplayer mod.
- If all the files are downloaded as zip files, extract them. Starting with the Lovely Injector, you should see a file named version.dll inside the release folder.
- Right click and copy this, then open Steam and right click on Balatro. Select manage and then choose browse local files, paste version.dll here.
- Launch Balatro to see if a dialogue box appears, indicating that the lovely injector is working.
- Next, we’ll be adding the Steamodded file. In the search box in your taskbar, type ‘%appdata%’. Open it and find Balatro’s folder.
- Inside the folder, you’ll find a ‘Mods’ folder, where you need to put the folder named ‘smods’. You’ll get smods upon extracting the Steamodded zip file.
- Now, from the unzipped file of the multiplayer mod, you’ll get the folder named BalatroMultiplayer-main. Again, copy this and put it in the Mods folder as with the previous files.
That’ll be all required to complete the mod. Launch the game, go to the Mods tab, make sure the multiplayer mod is enabled, and then select Play → Multiplayer to check if it’s working.
