Developer PlayWithFurcifer’s auto-battler title, Backpack Battles, was just recently released as early access on Steam on March 8, 2024, and has already gone on to sell 100,000 copies. Suffice it to say, it’s become one of the most successful auto-battler games in recent years. PlayWithFurcifer has stated that the game will be in early access for about 3 to 6 months, with the developers delivering constant content updates. Players are already having a great time with the game, but it just so happens that a lot of them want to know whether they can enjoy Backpack Battles on PC handhelds like the Steam Deck, Rog Ally, and the Lenovo Legion Go.

Ever since the release of the Steam Deck back in 2022, PC handhelds have gone on to set up a solid niche for themselves. Since then, other PC handhelds like the Asus Rog Ally and the Lenovo Legion Go have also made their debuts and achieved an equal amount of success. Thanks to that, whenever a new game releases, there’s always a question regarding its PC handheld playability. And Backpack Battles players, too, seem to have the same question. So, can you play the game on the Steam Deck, Rog Ally, and Legion Go? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.

Well, at the time of publishing this, Backpack Battles isn’t officially Verified for the Steam Deck. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t play it on the Deck. In fact, the developers themselves had played the game on the Steam Deck. Now, if you do encounter some issues, players have suggested using Proton Experimental as it seems to work great for it. You can take a look at the instructions below if you don’t know how to do that:

  • Select Backpack Battles from your Steam Deck library carousel and click on the cogwheel icon.
  • When the pop-up settings menu opens, select Properties.
  • Switch to the Compatibility section and checkmark the Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool option.
  • Now, select Proton Experimental from the drop-down menu and close the settings. By the way, if Proton Experimental doesn’t work, you can try other Proton versions too.

As for the Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, you shouldn’t have any trouble enjoying Backpack Battles on either of these PC handhelds. Unlike the Steam Deck, there are no compatibility issues when it comes to running games on the Rog Ally and the Legion Go because of the Windows 11 OS they happen to have installed. All in all, you can play Backpack Battles on the Rog Ally and the Legion Go without having to go through compatibility and performance issues.

Well, that’s all the information we have on this. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know whether you can play Dredge on Steam Deck, Rog Ally, or Legion Go.
