Studio Wildcard has already announced the sunsetting of the official server and network of the game, as Ark: Survival Ascended is scheduled to take its place. Don’t worry about not being able to play Survival Evolved, though. Why? Because private servers will not be affected by it. Now that the game is more than half a decade old and with so many content updates, it can get overwhelming for players to take in everything. And since you are reading this article, you must be looking for a way to tame the Leedsichthys.
Taming is a big part of Ark: Survival Evolved, as many aspects of the game are closely tied to it. Players use creatures to conduct tasks ranging from moving structures to combat. And the Leedsichthys is one of the aquatic creatures in the game that is quite large. So, how do you tame it? Well, let’s find out!
Ark Survival Evolved Leedsichthys Taming Guide: How to Tame it
This might come as a bummer, but the Leedsichthys in Ark: Survival Evolved can’t be tamed. And because it can’t be tamed, it’s also not possible to ride or breed it. Why can’t it be tamed? Well, primarily, that’s the developer’s decision. The in-game justification for why it can’t be tamed is that it’s just too large of a creature and doesn’t have enough intelligence to be tamed. Helena Walker’s dossier on the creature states;
“Despite its large size, and the fact that it may well be strong enough to carry heavy loads, Leedsichthys does not appear to be intelligent enough to tame. Nevertheless, some large tribes keep an enormous pen with a few Leedsichthys trapped inside for cultivating purposes, as bits of Prime Fish can be repeatedly scraped off the gargantuan beast without killing it!”
The dossier does suggest that you can capture a Leedsichthys, and that is true. You can capture this creature in a large pen and then harvest Fish Meat from it. Some players also use the gigantic creature as a boat destroyer by capturing it and then promptly releasing it when the enemy raft is in the Leedsichthys aggro range.
To capture the Leedsichthys, start building an enclosure. Ensure that the enclosure’s walls are quite high and go deep into the water. Don’t forget to leave enough room above the water’s surface. When you have built your enclosure, go into deep water using a raft and ensure that you are inside a Leedsichthys aggro range. Once it starts chasing you, head straight for the enclosure and then the beach. The creature will stop its chase once it realizes that the water is too shallow. It will try to move back into deep water, but the high walls of the enclosure will prevent that. Now, you can harvest fish meat in peace.
