Among Us saw an exponential boom in its player interest and popularity in 2020, credited mostly to famous content creators online playing the game, as well as the beginning of the pandemic lockdowns across the globe, which greatly increased the demand for free multiplayer games. In an extremely short time, Among us became one of the most popular free multiplayer games in the industry right now, and a big contributor behind its 2020 spike in player base and its continuing popularity is the way that the developers, InnerSloth, continue to update the game with fresh new content and features for players to enjoy: in this article, we will be taking a look at the new update to the game that will include a brand new Map 5, and when it could be coming out. Right, let’s get straight into it.
In the Roadmap for Among Us that was released by InnerSloth, a bunch of new features and content was confirmed to be coming to the game, including the long-awaited hide n’ seek mode, the brand-new map 5, and the achievements system, all of which we have covered in separate articles. However, long before the roadmap was ever released, InnerSloth confirmed that the game would be expanding to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and the Xbox One systems. Naturally, this brought up the question of whether or not the game would be supporting cross-play between existing versions of the game, and the answer from InnerSloth was yes!
What this means is that you will soon be able to play Among Us with your friends who play on an Android or iOS device from your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X! Console barriers will forever be unknown to Among Us players, what a relief.
The cross-save feature has no received any such confirmation as yet, but seeing as you could now have the game on various different devices, it does not seem unlikely that you will be able to carry over an account and thus all your achievements (new feature!), skins, and accessories with you across devices.
We hope you are as excited as us to play with all your friends who could each be using a different device to run Among Us, presumably coming to the game as part of an update that will release in the next few months.
