Set in the Aliens universe, Aliens: Dark Descent invites players on a journey to prevent a Xenomorph outbreak on the planet Lethe. In the game, you will act as the commander of your 4-man squad and lead them into fatal missions. While this sounds super exciting, you still wouldn’t want to repeat the same missions again and again simply because you couldn’t save your progress. With the game being released only recently, players are still figuring out some in-game features, and manual saving is one of them. If you want to know how to manual save your in-game progress in Aliens: Dark Descent, keep reading this article!
Saving in-game progress in any game is extremely crucial, as it allows players to continue from where they left off. Without knowing how to manually save in-game progress, you’ll have to depend on the autosaves. This means that if you leave the game, you will start from the point of your last autosave. If you have been playing Aliens: Dark Descent, then you must have already noticed the lack of a dedicated manual save button in the game. This has come as a surprise to most players, as they simply cannot figure out how to save their progress at the point where they want. While it’s true that there’s no in-game manual save option, we’re going to show you a little trick that you can use to force the game to save progress at your desired point.
How to Manual Save In-Game Progress in Aliens: Dark Descent?
In Aliens: Dark Descent, you won’t really find an option to manually save the game at any desired point. There are two different save game mechanisms that you can opt for while starting a new game. In the start screen, you’ll be given two options: Permissive, and No One Can Hear Them Scream. If you opt for the first option, Permissive, the game will autosave your progress at multiple points. Meanwhile, if you choose the “No One Can Hear Them Scream” option, you get only two autosaves. One upon the completion of Base Management, and one upon putting the squad into Rest Mode. Now, if you want to save the in-game progress manually, you can actually use a workaround for it, regardless of the save-game mechanism you chose.
Workaround
You can trigger a manual save by getting your squad inside a room, welding the room shut, and hitting the Rest button. Follow the undermentioned steps to activate rest mode–
- Upon opening your map, you can find several rooms that will have a Green House icon. Locate the one closest to you and enter the room.
- Now, you have to create a shelter to allow your squad to rest. For this, you’ll need to weld the doors completely shut. You will need one tool to weld each of these doors. If there is more than one door, then you’ll have to weld every single one of those. This means you need to have enough Tools if you want to save your in-game progress.
- Once you weld all the doors shut and turn the room into a sanctuary, hit the Rest button. This will trigger a manual save.
