Albion Online Not Working Steam

As great as Albion Online is as a sandbox MMORPG title, it has frequently had issues for Steam users over the years. The game still continues to be a fan for obvious reasons, but the issues haven’t really vanished. In fact, Steam users still face certain issues with the game every now and then, which can be quite frustrating. Even now, as we speak, Albion Online has hit another roadblock with Steam. Multiple players are reporting that they just can’t launch the game using their Steam client. No matter what they do, it just won’t work and they’re actively looking for possible fixes. Well, if you find yourself among these players, this is your lucky day. We’ll discuss how to fix the Albion Online not working on Steam issue in this guide. So, let’s find out!

Albion Online, when it first came out in 2017, was a game of promises. As it says on the official website, the game offered the first ever truly cross-platform MMO experience. Exciting, wasn’t it? And it started out strong as well, gathering a not-so-small player base over the years. However, even with the progress they made, the game isn’t yet fully functional on Steam. If you’re someone who always prefers using your Steam client for playing your favorite titles, this can be a bother for you. So, of course, if Albion Online is not working on Steam, we understand how that must feel for you. Thus, if you want to find out the potential fixes, here’s what you can do in this situation:

Albion Online Not Working on Steam: How to Fix?

Albion Online Not Working on Steam

Well, before we begin, we must admit that there aren’t really any official updates on the issue. This means we don’t have any official fixes for this either. However, we’ve shared all the best workarounds that you can use if you’re facing this issue with Albion Online. So, they are worth a shot:

Use Steam in Online Mode

Several users have claimed that Albion Online just doesn’t work with Steam offline. Thus, you have to first ensure that you have a strong network connection, and that there are no fluctuations. Once you’ve made sure that your connection is strong, follow these steps:

  • Open your Steam client and click on the Steam button on the top left corner of your screen.
  • Click on “Go Online” from the drop-down menu.
  • Run the game and see if that works.

Verify the Game Files

Albion Online may not be working on Steam due to broken or missing game files. To fix this, follow these steps:

  • Open Steam and go to Steam Library.
  • Locate Albion Online and right-click on it.
  • From the drop-down menu, click on Properties.
  • Select the Installed Files tab on the left side of your screen.
  • Click on “Verify integrity of game files“.
  • Wait until the process is finished and then try to run the game.
  • See if the issue persists.

Repair East Anti-Cheat

  • First, open the Task Manager by pressing the ctrl, shift, and esc buttons together.
  • After this, go to Details.
  • Look for Easyanticheat.exe under the Processes and end it.
  • Now, open Steam and visit your Library.
  • Locate Albion Online and right-click on the game.
  • Click on Properties from the drop-down menu, then go to Installed Files.
  • Click on Browse, and locate the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe file in the Easy Anti Cheat folder.
  • Open the .exe file and select the Repair option.
  • After this, run Steam, launch the game, and check if the issue persists.

Run the Game Using the Launcher File

  • If the issue persists, browse the installed files of Albion Online, following the steps in the above-mentioned workaround.
  • Now, in the game’s installation directory, open the Game folder and locate the launch_albion_online.exe file.
  • Execute the program to run the game.

Run Steam as Administrator

  • On your desktop, right-click on the Steam client and go to Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Scroll down and select the “Run this program as an administrator” option.
  • Click on Apply and then hit OK.
  • Now run the game through Steam again and see if the issue persists.

Use Albion Online Native Client

Instead of using your Steam client, you can try using the native client of the game, which should offer you smooth, seamless gameplay. You can find the native client on the official website of the game. Once downloaded, install it, and then run the game via the native client.

So these are all the workarounds that we currently know of if Albion Online is not working on Steam. Hopefully, your problem will be solved if you follow these workarounds. If not, you can always raise the issue with Steam Support. Meanwhile, if you liked this guide and want to have access to more such guides and gaming content, keep visiting DigiStatement!
