Road Studio’s debut title, Alaskan Road Truckers, is finally out and available to play. While certainly a fun one, it, like any other newly released title, has certain issues that need to be ironed out. Recently, both the Steam discussion page and the game’s official Discord server have been ripe with reports of steering wheel issues in the game, particularly with the Logitech G29. So, if your G29 Steering wheel is currently not working in ART, consider reading this guide until the end for more details.
At the moment, no one knows why the G29 is having so many issues. Players seem to be unable to properly use it due to sometimes the game not recognizing the wheel or, at other times, the wheel not connecting at all. Whatever the cause may be, this issue needs a fix right now. So, is there a fix yet? Continue reading to find out!
Alaskan Road Truckers Logitech G29 Steering Wheel Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Well, one good news is that the team over at Road Studio seems to be aware of this issue and is actively investigating it. So, you can expect an official fix soon enough. But until then, you can try out the following workarounds:
Reinstall G HUB –
A developer suggested reinstalling G HUB to get rid of this issue, and so we suggest you do this first. Uninstall it first and then start a new download. Once it’s installed, connect your steering wheel and see if the issue persists. If it does, then try another workaround.
Check the basics –
Ensure that you have taken care of every basic thing possible. Check if the wheel is properly connected to your PC or console. Additionally, you can also try restarting both the game and the wheel itself.
Properly connect your steering wheel –
The community was helpful enough to release a guide on connecting steering wheels, which you can use. Even if you know the entire process, we suggest you go through this guide and ensure you have followed all the steps. You can find the guide here. And just in case, if you are still unable to properly use your wheel, check out another workaround.
Verify your files –
Players can also try validating files to see if it helps. Essentially, what you will be doing is verifying your game files and repairing them accordingly. Since the game is only available on PC via Steam for now, all you need to do is head to Library and right-click on the game to select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. After the verification is complete, don’t forget to restart your PC.
Update the game –
Alaskan Road Truckers received its first patch just today, October 19, 2023. We recommend you get that update and then start the game to check whether the steering wheel issue continues or not. If it’s still happening, try the next workaround. You can also try updating the wheel via G-HUB.
Use another USB port –
You can also try connecting the wheel to another USB port if you haven’t tried this already. It’s a simple workaround, so you wouldn’t need to spend a lot of time trying and finding out the results. If even this one doesn’t get any meaningful results, check out the next method.
Power cycle the wheel –
Power cycling is one of the most common workarounds used to fix a lot of issues. In this one, all you need to do is:
- Disconnect the G29 from your PC or console and then from the outlet as well.
- You should also disconnect pedals, shifters, and power adapters. Now, wait for about 15–20 seconds.
- Start reconnecting everything, and then start the game.
