Age of Wonders 4: How to play Co-Op Multiplayer with Friends
Triumph Studios is back at it with the latest title! Keeping the gameplay as authentic as possible, Age of Wonders 4 offers an online multiplayer mode. The game allows players to be in 9 person lobby, and this significantly changes the dynamics. If you’re a social butterfly with more friends, AoW 4 has you covered. The devs also recently came up with an official mod for 12-person gameplay with gigantic maps. Now, moving on to the main topic of this guide.
Host a Multiplayer Lobby
Playing in a lobby with friends is as simple as it could get; you can either host or join a lobby. We’ll show you how to host a lobby first. So, for this, launch the game > Go to the Main Menu > Online Multiplayer > Click on the Host Session > Pick a Realm > Host Private/Public. You can set your lobby to either Private or Public. Public lobbies can be joined by anyone who sees them, whereas Private lobbies are best if you have friends to play with.
Join a Multiplayer Lobby
As mentioned above, lobbies are either Private or Public. If you wish to join a random person’s lobby, click on Main Menu > Online Multiplayer > Available Sessions. This will show you all the public sessions that have room.
If you wish to play with friends in their lobby, you will need the room code, or the host can invite you directly. Here, players wanting to join the lobby would need to provide the host with their Paradox ID for them to send an invitation.
In order to join a multiplayer lobby with a code, go to the Main Menu > Online Multiplayer > Available Sessions > Join with Code. The host will provide you with the Join code, so just paste it in the text box, and you will enter the lobby.
Hot-Seat Multiplayer
Since Age of Wonders has always had this amazing option of Hot Seat Multiplayer, the fourth installment is no different. Campaigns in AoW 4 are known to run for hours on end, and it can get difficult and tiring to be online all the time, even when it isn’t your turn. This magical game is filled with wonders, one of which allows players to leave the game and return when needed. The game will also notify players via email when their turn goes live.
Well, this brings us to the end of the guide, and we hope you can now win epic battles with your friends in the game’s multiplayer mode. Be sure to check out DigiStatement for more information and updates about your favorite games!
