According to this tweet from the official Adopt Me Twitter handle we are for sure getting a new update. The new update is going to focus on making the pets more interactive. This update has been in the workings for a long time now. As the tweet says it is not yet complete and will be implemented in the game soon. This new update will surely bring more following to the game and make it more popular than it already is.

Pets are like the most important part of Adopt Me at this point. Making the pets interactive will not be limited to just more tricks as they can already do that.
