Farming Simulator is the premier farming simulation video game in the market right now and has been providing us with some of the most authentic farming experiences since 2008. Pretty much every single iteration of the franchise has had a large mod community that develop and perfect mods for the games so that each player could experience the game exactly as they wanted to. In this article, we will be exploring the possibility of Farming Simulator 22, the latest confirmed release in the franchise, also supporting mods to ensure the thriving mod community lives on this upcoming year. Right, let’s get straight into it.
The Farming Simulator franchise is developed by Giants Software and published by Focus Home Interactive ever since its inception. The series usually followed a biennial release pattern for their games, with a new Farming Simulator game coming out every odd year. The titular release, on the other hand, was the first and only release in an even year for a very long time. However, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works for every game developer in the world, and Giants Software released a Farming Simulator 2020, marking a departure from a tradition that lasted a decade, since Farming Simulator 2009.
It seems as though Giants Software has reverted to the biennial release pattern for the Farming Simulator, as 2021 will see the release of Farming Simulator 2022, meaning the franchise could now have games titled with even years instead of the traditional odd years.
Giants Software host a podcast talking about their games every two weeks or so on Spotify, and in May of 2021, Giants Software talked about the presence of mods in Farming Simulator 22, with Podcast #5. The synopsis of this episode was “Recently, there is a rumor going around that Farming Simulator 22 will not support mods. Let’s talk about that!”. In this podcast, it was confirmed that the game would indeed be supporting mods, so that is great news for fans of the series!
