Godfall was the first-ever game officially confirmed for release on the PlayStation 5 when its first trailer was shown at The Game Awards in December of 2019. The game is a looter-slasher, meaning it incorporates the hack n’ slash mechanics of Chivalry, along with the loot shooter concept where players must defeat their enemies using the weapons they find in the environment or from completing side quests. Godfall has released only on Windows and the PlayStation 5 for now and is scheduled for an August 10, 2021 release to the PlayStation 4 as announced at E3 2021. In this article, we will be taking a look at the possibility of a sequel, presumably titled Godfall 2, and when it could be coming out. Right, let’s get into it.
Godfall was developed by Counterplay Games, a video game studio of around 75 employees based in California, USA, and have experience working with Bandai Namco, who published their previous game, Duelyst. The development team that worked on Godfall, and is now presumably working on adapting the game to the PlayStation 4, have had past experience working on other looter shooters, most notably Destiny 2. This influence is seen quite pointedly in the game, as anyone who has played both would be able to easily spot.
Seeing as the game has not yet completed its full release cycle across all platforms, there is definitely a bit of a waiting period that fans will have to go through before we receive any sort of information about a potential sequel to the game. However, this prospect is very real, considering the high fantasy storyline of the game that allows for plenty of plotlines to be developed independently in the game world.
We could be looking at a potential late 2024 release for Godfall 2, assuming all goes well with the funding and publishing of the game, which Counterplay has had a bit of trouble with in the past, namely with Duelyst, which needed funding from Kickstarter.
We hope you are as excited as we are for the potential Godfall 2. Make sure to check out our other articles on the upcoming Forza Motorsport 8, Demon Slayer Hinokami Keppuutan and F1 2022. Cheers!
